It is all possible!

UOW Shoalhaven Campus gives students the opportunity to complete university study close to home while staying connected to the communities and employers of the Shoalhaven and wider South Coast. Based at Mundamia near Nowra, the campus offers undergraduate, postgraduate, pathway and supported online study options across areas including nursing, medicine, education, business and the humanities.

For regional students, studying locally reduces the need to relocate or travel long distances while completing a degree. It also keeps students connected with local work, family, professional networks and the industries where many will build their careers after graduation.

Study Locally at UOW Shoalhaven Campus

UOW Shoalhaven Campus provides face-to-face courses alongside supported online study options. Current study areas include business, marketing and management, education, nursing, health and medical science, humanities and social inquiry, plus university pathway options.

The campus has served the region for decades. In January 2026, UOW reported that more than 2,300 students had graduated from its Shoalhaven campus since its establishment. Those graduates contribute to local hospitals, schools, businesses and community organisations across the South Coast and beyond.

Studying close to home also gives students the opportunity to build local professional relationships while they learn. This matters in a regional economy where employers need skilled people across health, education, business, community services and professional roles.

UOW Shoalhaven Campus Nursing, Health and Medicine

Health is one of the strongest study areas at the campus. UOW Shoalhaven offers the Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Nursing (Honours), along with an enrolled nursing pathway. UOW states that its Bachelor of Nursing includes 840 hours of work-based placement, giving students practical experience alongside academic study.

The campus also supports postgraduate health and medical study, including the Doctor of Medicine and a range of online postgraduate programs in areas such as clinical care, mental health nursing, gerontology and medical and health leadership.

These pathways connect directly with one of the South Coast’s largest employment sectors. Students interested in health and community careers can explore the Community and Health Services industry page to see the employers, career stories and opportunities operating across the region.

Education, Arts and Business

UOW Shoalhaven Campus also supports study across education, humanities and business. Current options include the Bachelor of Arts and several Arts majors, along with postgraduate teaching programs. UOW also lists online business study and project management options supported through the regional campus.

These study areas provide pathways into teaching, management, administration, marketing, project work, community organisations, government and professional services. They also give students broader skills in communication, critical thinking, leadership and problem solving that transfer across many regional industries.

For students who want a university qualification without leaving the region, these options create a link between higher education and the broader Shoalhaven careers market.

University Pathways and Flexible Study

Not every student enters university through the same route. UOW Shoalhaven Campus supports pathway options for people who need another entry point into higher education, including the University Entrance Program and specialised first-year study options.

The University Entrance Program provides a fee-free pathway into eligible UOW degrees for students who successfully complete the program and meet UOW entry requirements. The specialised gap year option also allows eligible students to begin university study locally and part-time before moving to classes at the Wollongong campus.

Students completing UOW courses online are also encouraged to use the Shoalhaven campus as a local study hub. This gives online students access to campus facilities, study spaces and support without needing to complete every part of their course at a metropolitan location.

Student Support and Campus Life

The smaller regional campus model gives students access to local academic and support services. UOW lists study and IT facilities, printing, student events, study groups, wellbeing support, learning and maths skills assistance, career and employability services and library services for Shoalhaven students.

Students and staff have secure after-hours access to parts of the campus, including study facilities. The campus also includes a library and cafe, helping students study, meet and access services in one location.

For prospective students, the campus team provides direct advice about courses, pathways, applications and campus visits. Current contact information is available through the UOW Shoalhaven contact page.

UOW Shoalhaven Campus and Regional Careers

The value of regional university education extends beyond the qualification itself. Students studying in the Shoalhaven remain close to local employers, professional networks and the communities that need their skills.

Think Regional stories already show this connection. Local students have used the campus to explore health careers, complete nursing study and stay in the region while building professional experience. This creates a clearer route from local education into regional employment.

The South Coast offers careers across healthcare, education, community services, government, professional services, tourism, construction, manufacturing and other industries. UOW Shoalhaven Campus gives students another way to build the qualifications and professional connections needed to pursue those opportunities without immediately leaving the region.
