It is all possible!

Escaping the Rat Race – James at Macey Insurance

James chose to live and work on the South Coast to escape the rat race…

James grew up in Sydney. He worked for several insurance companies and was head hunted for his specialist experience. Years of commuting, working as an underwriter in insurance during the bushfires and then COVID lockdowns led to him feeling burnt out and in need of some time off.

He decided to use the time to scout out a new place to live.

He drove the coastline heading north to Port Macquarie and south as far as Eden. His wife Emma was still working at Westpac, so he took the road trip alone initially – narrowing down the options.

James fell in love with the South Coast and brought Emma back to several locations. They decided on Shell Cove – loving the proximity to the beach and services while still being an easy trip back to the city.

As a Senior Business Analyst Emma can work from home most days, catching the train back to the office one day a week. When James was considering his next move, he had one option in mind – Macey Insurance.

James had dealt with the team at Macey’s over the years in his capacity as an underwriter and was always impressed with them. He knew the business was well established, growing and has multiple regional offices, including Kiama – so the commute would be minimal.

“I sent my CV and a cover letter over to them and I was so happy to be offered a position.” Said James.

“While I hadn’t been on the brokerage side of insurance before I was eager to expand my skills, work with customers by actioning everything they need and gain a broad product knowledge.”

“There is a real family feel to the team, and the community involvement through charity days has made it easier to make new social connections.”

“We are so glad we made the move.” He added.
