David has enjoyed a successful global career, honing his skills across various international roles. Now, he has brought his expertise to the South Coast, embracing the opportunity to contribute to the local community while pursuing a more fulfilling and balanced lifestyle.
No stranger to overseas travel and having spent many years living in places like the Seychelles, Papua New Guinea, and the UK, David packed his bags once more, ready for another exciting European backpacking adventure. He could never have predicted that on the first day of his journey, he’d meet his future wife at the Colosseum in Rome – but that’s exactly what happened. She worked as a counsellor at an international school in Japan, and having never visited Japan before, he decided to follow her there. Eventually, they returned to Australia together and they got married.
Back in Sydney, David specialised in internet security products for the world’s largest IT distributor, building strong relationships with industry giants like Symantec, Trend Micro, McAfee, and CA Technologies. With his industry knowledge and experience at the forefront of the ever-changing security landscape, he learned how security breaches and compromises impacted companies of all sizes – and, more importantly, the lives of individuals. “In cybersecurity, staying ahead of the curve has always been essential, and that imperative remains unchanged,” said David.
After a decade in the city, David and his family made the move to the South Coast of NSW. “We decided it was now or never,” said David. He found work with a local estimating software company specialising in data analytics and estimating for major international projects. IT Basecamp was the manage service provider for this company, and it was during this time that he had met Brad and the team. After leaving the estimating company following ten years of service, David reached out to Brad, passing on his CV in the hope that his expertise in cybersecurity, analytics, and technical experience could be of value to one of Brad’s contacts.
Brad saw the opportunity to bring David’s skillset onboard in an emerging area of his business – cyber security and hired him as the Partnerships Manager for Cyber Heroes at IT Basecamp. David’s global experience in applying best practices allows him to deliver risk assessments, onsite audits, website penetration testing, and cybersecurity training.
His wife has also been running her own prenatal education business on the South Coast for over 20 years, and together, they have two children. “It’s a great community here,” said David. “I have an interesting job and it supports the skills I have, and my family are living their best life too. Internet security is constantly changing, so my work is ever evolving.”
“What’s unique about this dynamic company is that your input is valued by the team and through close relationships with our customers I directly see the positive impact that we have on their businesses, which brings me a high-level of job satisfaction” added David.
