Until three years ago, Chelsea had no idea what logistics and supply chain coordination entailed. She was on track for a career in childcare. Like many others, COVID-19 altered her path when her role was made redundant. Fortunately for Nowchem, she began exploring new opportunities. As the company remained busy throughout the pandemic, a reception position opened up, and Chelsea stepped in. At the time, she saw it as just a temporary role, explaining, “This was just an interim thing for me.”
Chelsea’s ability to juggle competing priorities quickly became apparent, making her the ideal candidate to cross-train in purchasing and supply chain. When a maternity leave position became available, she took the leap and never looked back. She had already fallen in love with the Nowchem team, and the chance to learn something completely new sealed the deal.
Now, as Chelsea prepares for her own maternity leave, she reflects on how supportive and inclusive Nowchem has been throughout this transition. “It’s been reassuring to have open discussions with Mel, our HR Manager, and to feel completely supported without concerns or pressure,” she shares. “I’ve seen others take leave and return to their roles or even new ones, and they’re always welcomed and supported. It makes you feel like a human, not just a number.”
Chelsea is about to begin training a new team member to take over her role as the Supply Chain and Logistics Coordinator, a handover she’s excited about as she welcomes the new team member into the wider team. “You don’t have to work your way into the team. Once you’re here, you’re in, and you’re immediately part of the Nowchem family.”
Nowchem has built a reputation as a workplace that genuinely cares about its team. Whether it’s providing career growth, flexibility, or unwavering support during major life changes, the company fosters an environment where employees feel secure and valued.
